Wimbly Lu (revisited)

It's been a rainy and homely Sunday.

Stayed home for the most part of today because the weather made me so lazy to head out.

Saturday was a fulfilling one because I finally brought Thom to try the ultra nice waffles at Wimbly Lu.

Year ends are always hectic when it comes to work.

Really hope it will be over soon so that I can take a much needed break from the stress of work.

I swear I'm in love with outfits that come with mesmerizing lace details.

We spent a long time hunting for this particular lace that scallops at the edges just like the original Miss Selfridge piece.

We went at around 5pm and were pretty lucky to get our seats immediately.

Too bad they served only desserts and drinks at that timing.

I was looking for something more filling than desserts.

Poor Thom had separators put in for his upcoming braces treatment and couldn't eat anything besides old people food.

So I had to finish most of the desserts we ordered.

Need to start working out more to burn off all the calories.

Still trying to abstain from caffeine (KOI being the exception),

so I ordered the Iced Honey Lemon drink!

Wimbly Lu's famous waffles with a scoop of homemade salted caramel ice cream.

Thom loved this as well,

so I guess we'll be back for another round of it soon enough!

this product is a hair styling tool + hair dryer in one.

You know that thing which stylists can do so well when they blow dry your hair?
The part where they hold a round comb and a hair dryer,
comb and blow at the same time and you end up getting the most fantastic curls ever?

This is what the product does!
Only without the stylist, the comb and the hair dryer.

I have tried mimicking whatever the stylists do in salons but I JUST CAN'T.
It's like my hand eye coordination is so bad that my hair just ends up looking the same after 30 minutes of me attempting that-thing-which-stylists-do.

Whoever invented this must be a genius.


The description on the box made me super excited to start trying out this product!

I also love the fact that it provides ionic conditioning to reduce frizz in hair.





The bristles are really soft and will not hurt your scalp one single bit.
In fact, the soft bristles will give your hair smoothness and shine!


The two black buttons control the direction and the movement of the barrel,
while the pink button controls the heat settings.

Super easy to use!



I really have a very sad and pathetic amount of hair.
They look super flat especially when it's wet.


I use Toni & Guy heat protection mist before I blow dry my hair!

Blow dry your hair till ALMOST dry (about 90% dry) for the best results before using the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm.


This is my hair which is almost dry.
Which is also how my day to day hair looks like.
Looking at this photo makes me feel glad that I own the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm!


I use this Lucido-l product before I start on the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm.
This is to help the hair retain the shape after long hours,
but doesn't make my hair feel hard like hair waxes would.

When I get better at this,

For girls with more hair,
sectioning your hair will give you an easier time.

I know I overuse the word "amazing" in this post but there's just no other word to fit this product better.

My verdict of this product is,
JUST BUY ONLY!

In case you're wondering,
this product is really easy to use!
At the start I was rather clumsy using it and took a longer time to achieve the volume and curls at the end.
After a couple of tries,
you're bound to get the hang of it!
I know it because I'm the kind of person who cannot even use a hair curler or straightener to save my life.

Now, all it takes is a short 5 minutes of my time (plus 5 minutes of blow drying with my hairdryer) to walk out of the door and start my day with gorgeous hair.
I'm sorry if I seem a little too enthusiastic about this product but really....
It's a product that I really LOVE.
It's too good not to share.

You know it's time to hit the salon when you have more bad hair days than you can count.

I have not been taking good care of my hair for as long as I can remember,
save for occasional visits to the salons to redo my perm or touch up on the black roots.
So as you can imagine (or actually just see for yourself later),
my hair has been in the most dismal state.
Ever.

So when COVO invited me to go down to their salon for a lovely afternoon of getting my locks pampered,
I was pretty excited.
Even more so when I heard that they are a Japanese hair salon!
I've had the best perm done when I was in Tokyo one and a half years back,
and so I fully trust in the skills of Japanese hair stylists.

Covo has a full team of qualified Japanese hair stylists who used to work in Tokyo,
so I was extremely excited for them to work their magic on my hair!




Horribly dry hair which gets tangled every single day.
And then I have to go through a daily frustrating process of detangling them as gently as I can.
;(

I'm actually quite ashamed to see these photos now, hahaha.
I shall try my best to never let my hair degenerate to this state in future.
Super cringe-worthy!


The wonderful people from COVO showed me into their VIP room where I could enjoy their services in my own privacy.
How thoughtful of them!
I really love how Japanese are so focused on delivering the best customer service that they can.
They were utmost attentive of my needs and were constantly checking if I was feeling okay/whether I need any drinks/if I was okay with whatever they were doing to my hair.

I felt like a princess for the day.

I chose to do a dye + hair treatment because my black roots were showing.
Wanted to go for a lighter tone than what I had so I told my stylist Maika,
and she picked a shade which she felt was suitable for me.
And of course,
she checked with me ever so politely if the colour was okay before she proceeded.

Have I already mentioned that I love how polite and gentle Japanese people are???
They are just awesome.





I went for their hair treatment after the hair dye and Rie proceeded to give me the best wash and head massage I've ever had.
It was so comfortable, relaxing and so gentle that I almost fell asleep.
I asked my stylist if there was any name for the treatment which I did,
but she said it's just called 'hair treatment'.
Hahaha.

To be honest,
I brought along my iPad to keep myself occupied during the session...
But I hardly even took it out of the cover!

I had the best time chatting with Emi (the marketing person in charge) and my hair stylists!
Language isn't really a barrier in COVO even though everyone who works at COVO are Japanese.
They can speak basic English and I think you might even learn a bit of Japanese when you're chatting with your stylist!

They did such a fantastic job of my hair I don't even know what to say.
This is truly the best I've seen my hair in AGES.

It's as though my stylists know exactly what I want and what works for me even though I didn't spell it out for them explicitly.
Japanese hair stylists are too awesome for words!

I walked out of the salon feeling like a million bucks.

Hahaha.

my hair is still in an awesome state a week after I went to COVO!
I also took 2 flights within that week,
mind you.

But yet my hair is still looking as soft and awesome as it can be.
