To Short(er) Hair

***I'm in Korea having the time of my life right now but I blogged this post in advance!
;)

Am so happy to be back at COVO!

You can read about my previous visit here: http://www.joycesayshello.com/2013/08/covo.html
Linked it for you lazy bums, hehe.

I really loved my hair after my first visit to COVO,
so I was naturally,
extremely thrilled to hear that they wanted to do a long term sponsorship with me.
Kept rushing my manager to help me book my appointment (hehe sorry!!!) but my hair is really getting cui-er by the day and I know they can do miracles to it.

As you might have read from my previous blog post,
I did something pretty drastic to my hair this time round!

Got my hairstylist Maika to snip off quite a bit of my hair because it was all damaged and dried out at the ends because I dyed it too many times within a short period.
And after my last dye job (which was not done at COVO),
my hair had enough.

All the split ends were driving me crazy so...
I CUT MY HAIR SHORT!

More pictures later!

That's me excitedly snapping away.
Couldn't wait for the outcome!

AND I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT!
Part of me was pretty scared that it would turn out wrong because I used to have short hair and I preferred myself with long hair.

But I'm really glad I made the decision to snip it away though!
That decision was definitely made easier because I knew that I was in the best hands possible.
I also dyed my hair to a darker shade because my hair colour was getting too light and unhealthy looking for my liking.
Also did the Super Treatment to keep my tresses soft and manageable.

All these topped with the best head and shoulder massage really made me feel pampered for the day!

Here's my first OOTD in short(er) hair!
I think I will be keeping to this length for quite a long time.
Heh.

Outfit of the day:
Nude drapey cardigan upcoming on TTR,
Mink Basic Cropped Top from TTR,
boyfriend jeans from Topshop,
heels from Zara

I was pretty amazed by how hairstyles can change a person's outlook so much.
I probably wouldn't like this outfit as much if I still had crappy looking hair.

If you're bored of your current hairstyle,
consider giving it a change!
I think that it is really important to find a good stylist if (especially) you're looking to get a haircut.
A good stylist makes all the difference because you know your hair is going to grow out nicely and not look crappy.

I recommend my stylist from Covo, Maika!
She's really nice and she gives the best massages.
And of course,  also because she gave me the best haircut I've ever had in my life so far.
Totally not exaggerating!
The cut she gave me complements my face shape a lot and I think it's hard to find stylists who can do that.

Here's COVO's price list if you're keen to do a refreshing makeover for your hair!

Outfit of the day:
Mink Basic Cropped Top in White upcoming on TTR,
Digital Dots Skorts from Ferris,
sneakers from Everlast

Am seriously contemplating keeping 2 pieces of each colour for this cropped top because I foresee that I will be wearing it reallyyyy often!
Hahaha.

Loved it so much when I got this piece from Topshop.
But the original piece came in flimsy cotton material which goes out of shape after a couple of washes,
and it was a tad too short for my liking.

So we did the TTR version in cotton spandex (quality feels so much better btw!) and a little bit longer than the original.
:D

I'm feeling pretty uninspired to do different hairstyles lately because...
My hair is SUPER damaged.
I can't remember when was the last time I gave it a decent trim,
so all the ends are split and dry in the worst way possible.
In fact,
I have never seen my hair in such a horrible state before.

It gets tangled every single day and I have to spend at least 5 minutes combing through.

Guess all the chemical treatments (dyeing and perming) really got to it.
:(

This photo is more to show you the pretty lace details for the upcoming Carrie Lace Romper, actually.
Do not get distracted by my ugly hay-like hair.

BYE HAY.
(My hair is extremely thin, HATE IT.)

I finally did something I've been wanting to do to my hair for ages.
Heheh.
If you've been following me on other social media platforms you would have seen!
If not...
Wait for my next blog post!

Recently, I attended a movie premiere in Taiwan thanks to Paktor app!
I'll be blogging about the photos we took in Taiwan soon but in another blogpost.

When I first heard of the Paktor app,
I was mildly intrigued because I've yet to actually download any online dating apps on my phone or used any similar apps before.

For those who do not know,
"Paktor" is the Hokkien version of "going for a date".
Such a cute name for a dating app!

Paktor aims to make online dating quick and simple,
with no pressure unlike conventional face to face dates for their users.
Since most people nowadays are always glued to their mobile phones everywhere they go,
I thought that a dating app would actually be quite interesting in helping singles to mingle, hehe.
If you're shy about the whole dating thing,
just take it as making new friends!

Since I'm blogging about this app,
of course I had to download this app and see for myself what it is about!

Search for "paktor" and immediately the app appears in the App Store

Don't worry, Paktor will never post anything to your Facebook!

The feature of the app which I thought was unique:
Only those profiles whom you indicated interest in (by swiping right) and if in return they too indicate interest in your profile,
you get a match and a private chat will open up for the both of you to get to know each other better!

Everything remains anonymous until you get reciprocal "likes" from the profiles which you've "liked".

Example of the profiles you'll be seeing on the app

I also liked that the app was extremely fuss free and easy to use.
Will definitely go around asking my single friends to try this app out!

You can also read up more about the app on Paktor's website and Facebook page:
www.gopaktor.com
www.facebook.com/GoPaktor
They even have a brand new candid reality series titled "You've Got a Match" on their website,
where it follows one of Paktor's bachelors as he embarks on a series of 3 dates!

Or just download this fun app and find out for yourself what this is all about!

Covo.

You know it's time to hit the salon when you have more bad hair days than you can count.

I have not been taking good care of my hair for as long as I can remember,
save for occasional visits to the salons to redo my perm or touch up on the black roots.
So as you can imagine (or actually just see for yourself later),
my hair has been in the most dismal state.
Ever.

So when COVO invited me to go down to their salon for a lovely afternoon of getting my locks pampered,
I was pretty excited.
Even more so when I heard that they are a Japanese hair salon!
I've had the best perm done when I was in Tokyo one and a half years back,
and so I fully trust in the skills of Japanese hair stylists.

Covo has a full team of qualified Japanese hair stylists who used to work in Tokyo,
so I was extremely excited for them to work their magic on my hair!

Horribly dry hair which gets tangled every single day.
And then I have to go through a daily frustrating process of detangling them as gently as I can.
;(

I'm actually quite ashamed to see these photos now, hahaha.
I shall try my best to never let my hair degenerate to this state in future.
Super cringe-worthy!

The wonderful people from COVO showed me into their VIP room where I could enjoy their services in my own privacy.
How thoughtful of them!
I really love how Japanese are so focused on delivering the best customer service that they can.
They were utmost attentive of my needs and were constantly checking if I was feeling okay/whether I need any drinks/if I was okay with whatever they were doing to my hair.

I felt like a princess for the day.
:)

SAM_8425

I chose to do a dye + hair treatment because my black roots were showing.
Wanted to go for a lighter tone than what I had so I told my stylist Maika,
and she picked a shade which she felt was suitable for me.
And of course,
she checked with me ever so politely if the colour was okay before she proceeded.

Have I already mentioned that I love how polite and gentle Japanese people are???
They are just awesome.

SAM_8428

SAM_8430

I went for their hair treatment after the hair dye and Rie proceeded to give me the best wash and head massage I've ever had.
It was so comfortable, relaxing and so gentle that I almost fell asleep.
I asked my stylist if there was any name for the treatment which I did,
but she said it's just called 'hair treatment'.
Hahaha.

To be honest,
I brought along my iPad to keep myself occupied during the session...
But I hardly even took it out of the cover!

I had the best time chatting with Emi (the marketing person in charge) and my hair stylists!
Language isn't really a barrier in COVO even though everyone who works at COVO are Japanese.
They can speak basic English and I think you might even learn a bit of Japanese when you're chatting with your stylist!
;)

With my pretty hair stylists Maika (left) and Rie (right)!
They did such a fantastic job of my hair I don't even know what to say.
This is truly the best I've seen my hair in AGES.
(You can scroll down to my previous blog posts to see for yourself if you still need convincing, hahaha.)
It's as though my stylists know exactly what I want and what works for me even though I didn't spell it out for them explicitly.
Japanese hair stylists are too awesome for words!

I walked out of the salon feeling like a million bucks.

Sorry for the spam of photos,
I hardly see my hair so gorgeous like that.
Hahaha.

And in case you're wondering,
my hair is still in an awesome state a week after I went to COVO!
I also took 2 flights within that week,
mind you.

But yet my hair is still looking as soft and awesome as it can be.

Bad Hair Days.

The last time I made a trip to the salon to really get something done to my hair was in May.
Got my hair permed for the very first time when I was in Japan!
And I really love permed hair as compared to my previously too straight and limp hair.

Perms usually last for a few months and I really tried my best to maintain it.
Hahaha.
So in October, my hair was already floppy and way too long.
Can you imagine having bad hair day everyday??
:(

In December, I finally found time to drag myself to a salon and got my hair cut and permed!

But I shall blog about a dinner with my friends first,
just so that you can compare for yourself the before and after of my hair!

Gawd, horrible hair!

Wearing a stitched bustier top with really awesome cutting!
;)
Will be launching this in white, black and florals in January!

Dempsey Brasserie for dinner.
Love the place.
Not awfully overcrowded on a Friday night!

They do brunch too!!
Shall visit that place soon for some brunch, hehe.

Yummy truffle fries!!
Whenever I see somewhere which serves truffle fries, I will definitely order.
Hehe, addiction.

Mussels in seafood broth!
This is really, really good.

Me and HT!!
My hair looks awfully flat here, I don't know why.
:(((

Yay a group photo!!
Hehe we haven't take a group photo for god knows how long.
When I'm with my close friends I don't tend to whip out my camera.
We'll usually get carried away talking.

Dessert to share!
Toffee date pudding which still sadly cannot be compared to Marmalade Pantry's.

Polaroidddddssssss!
:D

Okay, so back to my hair story...
Hahaha.
After sitting at a hair salon for 4 hours, here's the end result right after!

YUMMY FOOD FROM SHOKUDO!

Wearing the stitched bustier in black (HAHA I KEPT EVERYTHING!), and an upcoming tribal printed shorts!

Thank you baby, for accompanying me for the entire 4 hours even though it bored you to death.
Hehe.

I really love my hair!!!

This is not an advertorial or sponsored post by the way.
Just sharing because I think everyone deserves nice hair.
And because some of you have been asking on my FS!

I got my hair done at 313 Shunji Matsuo (recommended by Mel!),
and my haircut and perm is done by Jerry who's the Master Stylist there!
:)
He suggested me to perm my fringe after I complained that my fringe is flat and has gaps all. the. freaking. time.
And I was a bit like 'huhhhhh perm fringe omg, will it be very curly??!'
LOL.

It's actually just a subtle perm for the fringe!
And I like how it turned out!!
No more annoying gaps in the fringe, so much easier to manage now!

The sad thing is the fringe perm will only last for a month or so...
Definitely going back to get it permed again!

Photos from my instagram!

First day after the perm.
Well, I'm actually not a fan of such girly curls.
I prefer random, messy curls.
Hahahaha, I'm weird.

So after my first wash, I let my hair dry naturally to get the curls I want.
(As taught to me by Jerry, haha)
I forgot what perm I did already though,
but you can ask Jerry, he should remember!

Yay to good hair days!
And can I just say again, having a permed fringe is so damn awesome.
Hehe.

Thinking of dyeing my hair before CNY comes around but no idea what colour!!
Suggestions?
No ombre hair please!!

Meanwhile, have a happy Christmas ahead!!
I'm off to Bintan from 24-26 Dec, gonna enjoy my short break before the CNY dash.
