Daily Hair Care Routine

I hope everyone had a good Christmas!
I'm a free thinker so I don't really celebrate Christmas in a big way,
but I do love the warm and fuzzy feeling that Christmas brings about, the happy Christmas spirit and giving/receiving presents!

Anyway,
I thought I would share about my daily hair care routine on my blog today.
And since I received quite a few enquiries about how to use the BaByliss Big Hair 42mm which I've blogged about earlier (CLICK HERE TO READ),
I also did a video tutorial for this blog post to show you how easy it is to use it!

hairstylers

There you go,
8 easy steps to achieve beautiful and healthy hair!
:)

You can feel free to leave me a comment if you wish to ask about any step,
I will try my best to help!

hairbrush
Here's another product which Lin from Hairstylers Asia very kindly sent over to me!

I've been intrigued by this holy grail of all hairbrushes ever since I read about it on various international beauty bloggers' blogs.

This hairbrush is patented and has been around for over 10 decades!
Many celebrities as such Heidi Klum swears by this cult favourite because it is said to be able to do many wonderful things for the hair.
The Mason Pearson hairbrush is known to be able to evenly distribute sebum fro the scalp and stimulate circulation to the hair follicles,
therefore making your hair shinier and stronger.
You should be able to brush your hair with little effort because it is said to be able to detangle hair easily as compared to your normal hairbrushes.

Admittedly,
I am not one who brushes my hair on a daily basis.
Which is very BAD, I know.
But when you have hair as fine as I do,
every brush means hair loss (hair is little so I hate it when they drop) + my hair looks very flat and limp after brushing.

I haven't been able to run my fingers through my hair without meeting tangled clumps for the longest time because I refuse to brush my hair often...
Until I tried the Mason Pearson Pure Bristle & Nylon Mix hairbrush.

SAM_0859

Here's my verdict after using this hairbrush twice a day for the past few weeks:

- My hair no longer has tangles anymore due to frequent brushing, whoopie!

- Hair appears more lustrous and less bushy looking.

- My hair surprisingly does not look flat and limp after brushing! If anything, my hair usually looks more voluminous after I'm done with brushing. Miracle.

- Lesser hair fall because the bristles are really gentle on the scalp. Even when I try to detangle my hair by combing, the brush seems to be able to resolves the tangle really easily and it causes minimal stress on my scalp.

Even though the price tag is rather hefty for a hairbrush,
I personally feel that it is a worthy investment in the long run.
You probably spent the same amount on dyeing or perming or rebonding your hair,
which are processes which cause damages to your hair.
So why not spend the same amount on something which can take good care of your hair?
I mean, hairbrushes don't really spoil easily so you'll probably be able to use it for the rest of your life.
And given how well this hairbrush performs as compared to the other random combs that I have been using,
I would purchase it even if I had to.

AND!
As promised,
here's the video of me showing you how to use the BaByliss Big Hair 42mm!

Christmas Love.

I just wanted to start my blog post by saying that I had a good week.
Not a super great everything-went-smoothly kind of week,
but it ended on a really sweet note when I came home on Friday and received all the love that my sponsors sent over.

PC144109
A super huge thank you to the very sweet people from Browhaus (Jeane and Eugenia),
Benefit (Mei Ting), Hairstylers Asia (Lin),
and Brands Innershine!

It definitely put a huge smile on my face when I came home to these goodies.

PC144111
Items I got inside my goodie bag when I attended the new outlet opening of Browhaus and Strip at Westgate!
(Will be blogging about it in due course!)
The chimpanzee is way too cute, hehe.

PC144112
The very awesome smelling shower gel which was specially customized and personalized for me by Jeane and Eugenia!
Thank you girls!
This is a really nice gift and I love it.

PC144115
Absolutely adore this funky printed zip pouch that was inside the package too!

PC144113
Already blogged about the contents of this pretty gift set from Benefit in my last post!
:)

This pretty in pink Mason Pearson hairbrush which Lin sent over is really awesome.
Really, really awesome.
So awesome that I will be sharing this on my blog soon in case you're wondering how this is different from the normal hairbrush.

Babyliss Curl Secret - new toy for my hair!
Saw this on Youtube before and I was really amazed at how it works.
So happy when Lin told me she was sending me a set!

And lastly, the goodie bag which the kind people at Brands InnerShine sent over.
I was excited to find out that it consists of their newest product,
the Marine Collagen Essence Strips!

I love collagen and I drink bottles of them on a weekly basis if I remember to.
Thought that it was pretty cool for collagen to come in jelly form!

Between my mum, sisters and I,
we already finished the entire box after I finished taking the photos.
They taste really good (even better than collagen in bottled form) and are super addictive to chew on!
Each strip has about 1000mg of collagen and I think it makes a really wonderful snack.

I'm also really impressed by the effort that they took to source for items which come in the similar pretty purple tones to put into the goodie bag!
;)

I'm truly feeling blessed to have received so much love given that I haven't been blogging "seriously" as a contracted blogger for very long so far.
So thankful to have all these brands/my sponsors for placing their faith in me,
trusting that I will do a good job in sharing about their products on my blog.
And of course, the biggest thanks goes to my management company Nuffnang,
for without which I will not have this much opportunities to work with so many wonderful and well known brands and companies.

Anyway,
here's sharing my outfits for this week!
I haven't been taking outfit photos at anywhere else other than the void deck,
because it's been raining like mad on most days and I just don't have time to head out to nice places.

Outfit of the day:
Slouchy Knit Cardigan and X Factor Spag Top from TTR,
Groovy Corduroy Shorts upcoming on TTR,
bag sponsored by Sandy Trove,
heels from Topshop

Kept all 3 colours of this pair of Topshop inspired shorts.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!
The texture of the shorts definitely adds an interesting but subtle touch to any outfit.
And I just have a inexplicable weakness for shorts which comes in a cutting like this.
So basic and easy to pair with any top.

Laine Bag in Black is kindly sponsored by Sandy Trove.
I'll be sharing more about them in my next few posts and you can expect discounts!!

I also spent a couple of hours this week at one of my favourite places - Covo Salon!
I always feel extremely welcomed and I love getting my hair pampered.
Their treatments are seriously the best.
Not kidding!

I also got a retouch on my eyelash extensions (blogged about it previously HERE).
I thought that the ones I did the first time round wasn't obvious enough on me because I have a habit of drawing eyeliner.
With the liner on,
the C curl lashes I picked tend to not show up that well.

So Jeanne (the therapist) suggested that I go for the CC curl this time round!
:)
I'm really loving my eyelashes a whole lot this time after the retouch!
They are much curlier and are still noticeable after I draw my eyeliner.
Although now that my eyelashes are so prominent and pretty,
I tend to skip the eyeliner altogether on most days.

You can go to my Dayre and take a look,
I've recently posted pictures of me just out of bed with zero makeup on.
My eyes still look just as good as in these photos even though I just woke up.
www.dayre.me/joycesayshello

For my hair,
I chose to do the Super Treatment (as I always do when I visit Covo, it's really fantastic!) and a subtle perm at the ends so that it would curl inward naturally.
I love the effect which using the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm gave me (read here) and so I asked my hairstylist whether they could give me the same curls because I wanted something more permanent.

And it turned out exactly the way I wanted it.
Some of you have asked me whether the curls will stay even after washing your hair and all.
And yes it does.
It works just like your normal digital perm,
they will stay the same if you blow dry your hair properly after washing!
:)

Outfit of the day:
Season of Love Romper upcoming on TTR,
bag and heels as above

It's always a matter of romper > dress for me,
so it was a no brainer that we should manufacture a romper which looks like a dress for Christmas!
Our rompers are usually on the more casual side,
but this year end we decided to make them a tad dressier and more suitable for those fancy parties you're gonna be attending.

I really wanted to keep this in all colours but I'm running out of space to stash in my wardrobe.
So after much deliberation,
I kept this in Wine and Navy!
Was a really touch choice between Tiffany Mint and Navy,
but Navy won eventually because I already have many items in mint colour.
Hahaha.

Outfit of the day:
Manhattan Skater Dress upcoming on TTR,
Soda Box Bag from TTR,
loafer wedges from Charles and Keith

You know,
this was initially one of those dresses which I dismiss as "not my type" when the sample first came.
But that thought faded into non existence when I first tried it on.
The cutting is JUST. SO. GOOD.
It fits to a T and is extremely comfortable.
In fact, I think I will be wearing this over and over again.
Especially on days when I peep into my wardrobe and have a frigging mental block on which outfit to pick.

Hehe, and now I really want to keep this in another colour as well.
I have till 8PM tomorrow to decide!

Our launch tomorrow is super awesome if I can say so myself!
Pop by and grab a few pieces!
They are definitely timeless essentials which you cannot do without in your wardrobe.
;)

Talk to you again soon!

Hair Magic.

Sponsored Review

Recently I've had followers on Instagram and friends around me asking/complimenting me on my hair.
Which is rare,
because my naturally flat and limp hair (and on some days tangled and untamed) is absolutely nothing to envy about.
So I will be sharing the secret to my hair in this post today!

I strongly urge all of you to read on because I'm about to introduce a hair tool which will change your life forever.
#cheesybuttrue
It did for me, at least!

I've always dreamt of having voluminous and effortlessly blown dry hair when I step out of the house every single day.

Unfortunately, I use the word "dreamt" because it is just almost impossible for me to get that gorgeous volume and nice curl at the ends when I do it myself at home.

Only on days when I visit my salon,
I get nice shiny hair with bouncy curls.

So when I first got to know about this amazinggggg product called the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm on a particular episode of Tried and Tested from Clicknetwork (LINK HERE),
I WAS JUST LIKE....

shut up

This was my honest reaction when I watched the video featuring this magical product.
I excitedly told Jolene that I HAVE TO GET IT (!!!) after several Youtube videos later.

I carted out the product and waited excitedly for it to be delivered to my doorstep.
Imagine my happiness (and utmost surprise) when Lin from Hairstylers Asia emailed me back and very kindly offered to sponsor me for this product.

Dream come true moment for me!

Actually, I truly wanted this product and didn't mind spending money on it.
But if I can in turn receive a product sponsorship out of it and do up a proper blogpost to share this wonderful product with my readers,
that's a definite bonus.

So...
Here's a simple guide on how I use this hair tool and some tips on getting optimal results from it!
I will also be sharing my verdict on this product later in the post,
plus a small piece of information which will make you VERY VERY HAPPY!

PB160411
If you didn't bother watching the video I linked above in my post,
this product is a hair styling tool + hair dryer in one.

You know that thing which stylists can do so well when they blow dry your hair?
The part where they hold a round comb and a hair dryer,
comb and blow at the same time and you end up getting the most fantastic curls ever?

This is what the product does!
Only without the stylist, the comb and the hair dryer.

I have tried mimicking whatever the stylists do in salons but I JUST CAN'T.
It's like my hand eye coordination is so bad that my hair just ends up looking the same after 30 minutes of me attempting that-thing-which-stylists-do.

Whoever invented this must be a genius.

PB160413
The description on the box made me super excited to start trying out this product!
VOLUME. SHINE. SHAPE. SMOOTHNESS. FULLNESS. BODY.
What we girls all want for our hair!

I also love the fact that it provides ionic conditioning to reduce frizz in hair.

PB160414

PB160415
The bristles are really soft and will not hurt your scalp one single bit.
In fact, the soft bristles will give your hair smoothness and shine!

PB160418
The two black buttons control the direction and the movement of the barrel,
while the pink button controls the heat settings.

Super easy to use!

PB160222
I really have a very sad and pathetic amount of hair.
They look super flat especially when it's wet.

PB160225
I use Toni & Guy heat protection mist before I blow dry my hair!
:)
You can get it at most Watson's stores!

Blow dry your hair till ALMOST dry (about 90% dry) for the best results before using the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm.

PB160227
This is my hair which is almost dry.
Which is also how my day to day hair looks like.
Looking at this photo makes me feel glad that I own the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm!

PB160238
I use this Lucido-l product before I start on the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm.
This is to help the hair retain the shape after long hours,
but doesn't make my hair feel hard like hair waxes would.
You can get this at Watson's too!

PB160233

PB160234

When I get better at this,
I will try doing a video tutorial!

For girls with more hair,
sectioning your hair will give you an easier time.

I took a photo for you so that you can see for yourself the prowess of this amazing product!
I know I overuse the word "amazing" in this post but there's just no other word to fit this product better.
Okay.
Maybe marvelous.
Splendid.
Awesome.

Enough of my nonsense and here's the photo for you to compare the before and after!

PB160242
Left (before) and right (after).

I can't live without this hair tool from now on.
JUST LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE.
I'm not even super adept at using this product yet!

I'm really adoring these voluminous curls at my ends.
Am now using this unbelievably genius product on a daily basis to help me achieve a salon-like finish!

This product also works just as well on girls with longer hair!
I tried it on Jolene and the difference is super huge too,
since her hair is usually frizzy and unkempt.

hair-gif
THIS IS NOT MAGIC.
It's the work of the Babyliss Big Hair 42mm!

Andddddd...
My verdict of this product is,
JUST BUY ONLY!

In case you're wondering,
this product is really easy to use!
At the start I was rather clumsy using it and took a longer time to achieve the volume and curls at the end.
After a couple of tries,
you're bound to get the hang of it!
I know it because I'm the kind of person who cannot even use a hair curler or straightener to save my life.

Now, all it takes is a short 5 minutes of my time (plus 5 minutes of blow drying with my hairdryer) to walk out of the door and start my day with gorgeous hair.
I'm sorry if I seem a little too enthusiastic about this product but really....
It's a product that I really LOVE.
It's too good not to share.

Babyliss Big Hair 42mm retails for SGD$159 on Hairstylers Asia and in all honesty,
I think what it can do is worth more than the money you pay for.

PB170369

A super huge thank you to Lin from Hairstylers Asia for being an angel by gifting me with this product.
It makes all the difference to my hair and it truly is the holy grail of all hair styling products.

Lastly,
if you're keen to get this magical hair product...
