Happy Monday!

Things that made my Monday awesome:

1) Going for my ortho consultation and confirmed my dates for extraction + putting on braces!!!

2) Chatting about mindless random things with Erica while packing parcels.

3) Dinner with Thom.

4) A unexpected, really touching blog post about TTR from a customer, Jesslyn.

Got her permission to publish the post on my blog so here you go:

sudden urge of penning down thoughts about a blogshop whom i have been shopping since 2009/2010 - The Tinsel Rack (TTR)
I got to know about TTR from an apparel review by steph (theimpulsiveact.blogspot.com) when they first started. Ever since then, i have been following their launches; though its not in every single collection that i bought something.  But i was always satisfied with the quality, style etc of the clothes they brought in. And slowly, they started manufacturing their own line of clothings, which never fail to burn a hole in my pocket but make my wardrobe more awesome than ever.
Crazy as it might sound, shopping with them was something really pleasant, and it makes me willing to part away with the money. Because i know that their apparels never disappoints. Quality is one thing i look most for in a piece of apparel, and TTR never compromises on that.
Yes, i dont keep every piece of apparel that i bought mostly because it doesn’t look flattering on me or I AM TOO FAT (le sigh). But even as i put it up for sale, it was quickly commented for by other sellers and sold (which give me the reason to buy more :P).
Customer service from them is also one of the best i ever experienced. There was once when i bought something and sold it off without even checking it in the first place (my bad), and the buyer told me that the hem was asymmetrical & wanted to see if i could get a replacement for her. I emailed Joyce, the owner, and she kindly replied that even they don’t deal with third parties transactions, she will try to help me as much as she can. I was really touched by what she said, because it is true that she does not have to help me with such things. And it was my own fault, as i didn’t QC it before selling it to a third party - it would have made things easier. But all was well at the end and i really appreciate Joyce’s help.
Also, even when Joyce is studying at NUS, she still continued to launch regularly with the help of Jolene, her sister and now a co-owner as well. I would have gone crazy stress from all the work i have to do, if i were them. And believe me, its definitely not easy. Despite their busybusybusy schedule, they even set up formspring account & entertain all sort of questions - repetitive, gossip-ish, hate comments but of course, love from us buyers too.
They do not have to answer all these actually, but they still did so that we, customers can know more eg: about the launch dates, the preview of colours, sizes etc. As for evil comments/questions, Joyce & Jolene always answer them skillfully and i really admire their humor and (sometimes) sarcasm. And please, they are crazy friendly if you are nice to them. Super super awesome girls if you were to know them - i dont actually really know them personally, but i do tweet Joyce occassionally (& she reply okayyyy!) :) & saw her x2 when i went for meetups!
Anyway, one of the questions i notice on FS is about the rising cost of their apparels. People actually complained about the cost of apparels getting higher via formspring! Do you go into any retail shops like Zara/Topshop telling their staff: “WALAU why your clothes all getting so expensive one!?” okay there might be a bit of exaggerating about the “walau” hahaha. But anyway, no one would actually do that right? Because everyone should understand that with quality comes a high price. Even if it is not justified, you wouldn’t complained directly to the owner/ sales assistant; you will probably grumble a little to yourself & not buy them.
Come on, i bet everyone understands the rising cost of virtually EVERYTHING. It’s the same with manufacturing clothing - Labour, material, shipping etc are increasing hence the prices ought to go in line too. As a finance student i understand high ‘absolute’ pricing using present value method, but no worries i wont bore you with boring finance theory & calculations.
If we, as customers find something expensive & unjustified for, we can jolly well not make the purchase. Nobody is forcing you to buy.
Was i disgressing a little when i talked about the rising costs? Hahah okay back to TTR. Oh one of the thing i have to commend them for, is the taking in of customers feedback! Us, customers are like super demanding nowadays, we even request them to manufacture certain type of apparels we like. Hahah & they do it especially those from topshop, as it oh-too-expensive for its sometimes lousy quality. And you got to admit, they improvise & do it better for us, at affordable prices! *hyperventilate please*
This is getting a lil lengthy, and i shall last say this - THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTORIAL. (: its purely out of love for the TTR girls, and the amazing things they offer us, shopaholics.
<3,
Jesslyn

Thank you Jesslyn!
We're blessed to have sweet and ever supportive customers like you!
At the end of the day,
this is really what makes it all worthwhile.

A simple thanks would have sufficed but this blog post really brought a wide smile to both mine and Jolene's faces.
:)

If ever I feel disheartened, I'll be sure to dig out this blog post and remind myself of what I'm working hard for.

Have a happy week ahead everyone!
<3
Lots of love from me to you!

Updates.

Not going to start every blog post with 'omg it's been so long since I last blogged',
so I'm here again updating about my life after a thoroughly exhausting but fulfilling week.
:)

And also...
I am really enthusiastic about using my laptop now because I just got it newly protected!!
Hahaha.
More about that on another post!
It looks so pretty now I can't keep my hands off it.

Some outfit photos from the past week!

Love my silver leafy necklace from http://mynt-shop.livejournal.com/
MYnt is an online shop selling handmade accessories,
and is actually owned by a very sweet friend of mine, Noi!
:)

I was so excited to receive the parcel because I haven't had parcels delivered for me for a really long time.

What I really love about their accessories are that they are simple and easy to match!
I don't have to rack my brains and think of clothes to pair them with.
;)

Plus, you won't bump into many people wearing it because most designs only come in 1-2 pieces!
I love unique handmade stuff!
<3

SO PRETTY......
I've been wearing this necklace over and over again for the past week.
No kidding!
:)

And stop staring at my horrible-nail-polish-peeling-off-but-still-don't-wanna-wash-off-nails.
LOL.

Here's the link to MYnt again if you're itching to shop for some accessories!

At the post office buying stamps from the SAM machine!
Such a chore because the machine dispenses the stamps one by one..

And usually we have to buy a few hundred.
Plus it's really embarrassing to be hogging the queue for a long time,
so I usually queue a few times if there are people waiting in line.

Wednesday was a happy day because Sophie popped by with Serchin,
AND some laoban beancurd for us!
:D :D :D
It was also a gathering of TTR clothes.
See which are the pieces you can recognise below!

We were coincidentally wearing the green X 2 and red X 2 combination!
Too bad it's not Christmas..
Hahah.

And Jolene happened to wear the same piece as Sophie.
;)
This is what happens when you have too many TTR fanatics in the family!

The boyfriends aka free labour.
Listening to whatever Sophie was saying I guess?
Hahah.

TTR twins!

My bestest cousin!
Can't wait to see her in a few days' time again! :)

Favourite dress!!!
:D
Black bucket bag from Bricks and Bolsas.
You can find the bag here: http://bricksandbolsas.livejournal.com/7098.html
My third bag review for them and still loving their bags!

This bucket bag really does it for me because I love my bags roomy,
so that I can dump a whole lot of things in.
Hate having to carry things in my hand.
A few of my friends also asked me where I got this bag from when I carried it out!

Met 2 of my NUS friends after work and went for some grocery shopping at Cold Storage.

Walked back to Daryl's place to cook dinner with the grocery which we bought.
If you find his place familiar,
it's because I did a shoot there some time in April/May last year.
;)

Before we went over to Daryl's place,
I met up with my customer/reader Shermaine and she passed me these CNY goodies!
I opened them to share and they were gone in an instant.

Can't stop munching on them as we waited for dinner to be ready!
:D
Thank you Shermaine!
They got lots of praises from my friends!

Instant potato gratin which tasted weird.
And full of MSG!
Betty Crocker's... FAIL.

And the lasagna which Daryl cooked after watching some youtube video by Gordon Ramsey.
Tastes really good!
:)
And it was a good catch up with my friends as well.
It's so different now that everyone has graduated...
But good to know that they're coping well with working life!

The past 2 weeks have been absolutely crazy and I've never been busier in my whole life.
Opening up self collection slots means double the workload for us in terms of logistics,
but at the same time it's good to meet up with the customers!

Finally we can match a face to the email addresses we've been seeing, heh.
Some of them are really sweet, and all of them are really friendly!
:)

Also, nothing beats the satisfaction and happiness when we see emails and notes of appreciation.
Some of them also dropped me smses to tell them that they love the clothes.
I'm always always ALWAYS grinning from ear to ear when I see them.
And I will always read them out loud to Jolene and my minions so that they can share the happiness too!

I'm going to give myself a good break this CNY,
to hopefully recharge and renew for a better year ahead!

And I'm not going to leave this space abandoned during this break,
hehe.
More blog entries soon!
I took some time out for a few nights this week to bake pineapple tarts,
can't wait to blog about them too!
