Thoughts about work.

I guess,
once in a while,
we all have to be put into bad situations sometimes to fully appreciate how good life has been to us in general.

I was feeling rather down recently about being thoroughly overwhelmed with work,
especially for the past few months since I have to travel for work pretty often.
Work responsibilities have also doubled and during random moments I just felt like giving certain things up and going right back to my comfort zone.

Today I took the MRT to meet my friends and unfortunately it was during the peak of the peak hours.
And as I was squeezing with everyone else without a single inch of personal space and having to inhale the odors of random strangers around me,
I suddenly felt thankful for my job.

Because of my job,
I have a lot of freedom to do the things I want without having to face the problems which normal people with normal office jobs have to face.
I am in total control of my time and my workload,
which is why I get to do things like cafe-hopping or shopping during hours when other people are busy stuffing their faces in work.
I also get to wear casual clothes all the time.
I was practically the only one in a spag top and shorts at the MRT station today,
surrounded by a sea of people wearing office clothes.
I hate wearing formal/corporate wear because they look so boring.

But when other people are relaxing their minds after work,
I have work to clear when I'm at home,
and my mind is constantly working on how things can be done better,
what improvements do we have to make etc.
My mind is never at rest and that is one of the reasons why I have trouble sleeping at night.

In some ways,
I too envy people who have normal jobs.
I make most of the key decisions in the business,
and so the pressure falls heavily on me to make sure that things turn out in the best way possible.
Some people think that it's a cushy job running a blogshop full time,
which is why I have so many readers and friends asking me about how to go about doing a blogshop because they also want to start one.
I wish that it was so...
But sadly it isn't.

Fortunately,
I have the best people on my team and they shoulder half this pressure for me.
On bad days when I have to scream at my suppliers to get things moving,
or when backorders get delayed and customers get angry,
or when things go wrong generally,
they are one of my main sources of motivation to stop me from throwing in the towel or going home to cry in bed.

Some people might envy what I'm doing right now,
but on some days there is really nothing to envy about.
I believe that every job has its definite ups and downs.

You can just think about bills that you have to pay and continue pushing yourself through whatever shitty job you're doing.

But to me, the most important thing is finding something that you really love doing,
so that you'll just keep pushing on even on your worst days.

Just some random thoughts that I had while taking the MRT today.
Maybe I should take the public transport more often, eh?

26.3.13

Days like these.

Just came back from the longest work day we've had in a while now and sitting in front of my laptop feeling stoned.
And sleepy.

But somehow,
it's on days like these which makes me appreciate fully how lucky I am,
landing myself in a 'job' that I love so much.
It's one of the best things that has happened to me,
and I cannot honestly be more thankful for it.

Even when I'm tired to the bones,
this love is what keeps me going.

So to those who are feeling lost in life because you have zero idea what to do when you're finally out of school,
I'd say to take some time to look around and decide on something which you can put your heart and soul into.
I hope you find your way soon.
:)

4.6.12

Half of a year.

Half a year is gone in a flash.
This year is extremely fast for me,
maybe it's because I'm doing what I love.
They say doing what you love makes time pass really fast.

And I'm happy to say that I'm satisfied with what I've did for the past 6 months!

I thought I'll take a short break from the Japan trip to share what I've been up to ever since I got back.
Other than working, of course. ;)
Work wise, everything is going as smoothly as I could ever hope for.
I've finally rid myself of the post-travel blues and plunged back into work 100%.
:)

A wall decal at the office because I thought we all need to think like this at some point of time.
Hehehe.

What I wore to the office on a random work day:
Tangled back chiffon top in black and Zara shorts.
The tangled top is definitely one of my favourite basics!

Random shot of my hair because I'm loving my curls!

Outfit for day out with the sisters:
Fairylights fishtail skirt in black and a top from F21!

The little sister is having her holidays so we thought we'll head out for some sushi and shopping for some sisterly bonding.
:)

This was just right after I came back from Japan.
Isn't it evident that I haven't had enough of Japanese food?
Hahaha.

Wore my comfy new pumps from Love Schues out! :)))
I don't think they've launched this pair yet,
so don't miss it!
They should be launching these either this or next week!

Material's soft so it doesn't hurt even after hours of shopping.
The faux snakeskin texture is really lovely too!

Coincidentally Jessie's pumps matched mine!
Hehehe.

We shopped around Bugis Street after lunch,
and I feel so old!
Totally lost, hahaha.
Too many new shops and the crowd is so overwhelming!

Love love love them!

Another top which I love a lot!!
:)
Just arrived in the last shipment and I couldn't wait to wear it out!

Should be launching this in the month of June!
Comes in floral prints too!

Aoba Ramen for Friday night dinner date!
Told you I haven't had enough of Japanese food!
:p

One of the rare times when I felt that flip flops actually goes well with my outfit!
;)

Caught Snow White and the Huntsman and I thought it was not too bad!
Bonus points because I think the actor who acted as Thor/Huntsman is major eyecandy!
LOL.

Sorry for spamming...
Hehe.
Major love for the upcoming dreamcatcher top!
YES IT'S FINALLY HERE.
Launching it this coming Sunday!
:D :D :D

I kept all colours but I was in the mood for burgundy that day..

Guess who coincidentally wore the same colour as me.
Hahaha.
So annoying!

TCC-ed again!
They're having a one-for-one promotion for main courses and pastas till 22nd July,
so go now if you're a fan of their food like me!

Mixed berries yogurt drink!

Clam soup which would have tasted better if it weren't luke warm.
;(

Instead of the usual Seafood Aglio Olio,
I decided to go for their Mentaiko pasta!
Which is didn't taste too bad!
:)

Thom had the chicken thigh with mustard sauce.
Can't remember the full name!
But it's nice!
Although he finds the portion too small.

I LOVE TCC!
♥ ♥ ♥

Red Mango for dessert!
The top's disjointed because someone started digging in before I could take a photo.

And here's the someone sheepishly trying to fix it back.
HAHAHA.

And that's all for my entry today!
:D
I'll be back to blogging about the rest of my Japan trip next!

13.1.12

Happily Busy.

I actually feel pathetic whenever I scroll through my camera,
looking for photos to blog,
but end up with the measly few...

Makes me feel like I don't have a life.

Which in actual fact,
I don't.

Sometimes I find myself wishing for more time to just sit down and stone,
days just zoom past and I don't even have any recollection of what I did,
on which day at which time.
Probably working I guess.
I don't even remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday.
It's like the little details don't matter anymore and my life just revolves around launches,
and every week it repeats.

Meeting my friends would definitely be a luxury at this point of time.
A luxury which I find hard to afford.
:(

Work is definitely taking its toll on me but I'm hoping that it will get better after CNY.
Every time I catch myself thinking of negative thoughts pertaining to why-I-seem-to-be-running-out-of-time-all-the-time or omg-running-my-own-business-is-so-stressful-might-as-well-work-for-someone,
I'll remind myself that at least,
I'm happily busy.
Or as what Thom always tells me in this enthusiastic and positive tone,
'The hardwork you put in will reap the rewards one day!'

I sure hope so.
Hahaha.

To break the wordiness of this post,
I'll add some photos of my OTDs!

At least I'm still making the effort to dress up,
and not let myself go down the spiral of dressing more and more sloppily as days go by.

Wore the upcoming basic sleeved skater dress, and paired it with accessories which I stole from my sisters.
So not my style but I like how the entire outfit works so well together.
Only the belt belongs to me.
The shoes belong to Jolene and they are one size smaller,
but I squeezed my way into them somehow.
:p

Wore this dress for a couple of times already,
paired them with different accessories to create different styles,
but only had the chance to take photos on this day.
:(
Looks like I gotta be more hardworking!

Sweetest note from a really adorable customer, tacked to my noticeboard!
Listing out all the TTR items she owns.
Hahaha.
;)

Failed shot of hairbun.

A better one!
No idea why my hair looks so brown in this photo.

#socoolone
Jessie's ring.
Hehehe.

One of my no make up days.
Wearing an old piece from TTR!
:)
Love how off shoulder tops make me look feminine,
hahaha.

Also no make up.
Just one day after the previous outfit and SEE HOW OBVIOUS MY EYEBAGS + DARK CIRCLES ARE.
Because I stayed up till 5am the night before...
And it resulted in irreparable damage.
Never knew that one day of staying up makes so much difference.
;(

Super devastated.

Random photo of Jessie clearing out the office fridge.
Hahahah.

Favourite drink!
I replenish my fridge weekly with 6 packs of this.
:D

Sad looking fridge.
Email me if you wanna contribute to the contents of my fridge!
:p
Just kiddingggggg!

Goodnight!
Off to bed before the eyebags come out to play.
