Windows to your soul.

Putting on mascara or false eyelashes was never a part of my daily make up routine.
Most of the times when I put on mascara or false eyelashes,
I have an event to attend.
Otherwise, I usually leave my eyelashes untouched.

When my Japanese hair salon invited me to try out their new eyelash extension service,
I was hesitant, to be honest.
The reason being that so many of my friends who have tried eyelash extensions (elsewhere) told me "horror" stories of their experiences.

Some of them told me that it was a really uncomfortable experience while the therapist glues the extensions on.
Some of them said that it is really hard to maintain.
Some of them said that they constantly felt that something was poking them in the eye.

And so...
I wasn't quite taken with the idea of having extensions on my eyelashes,
particularly since I'm not a big fan of the whole idea of having false eyelashes on me.
I thought that most eyelash extensions tend to look super over the top for normal days and will not seem natural at all.

Then again,
I cast aside all my nagging worries and went for it in the end because I really trust the services of my hair salon Covo.
They already did such a great job with my tresses!
What could go wrong with eyelash extensions, right?
Also, I've heard that Japanese eyelash extensions look a lot more natural than the usual eyelash extensions out there.
So part of me wanted to try it out and see how the therapist at Covo can work her magic on me!

Pictures of me sans mascara!
This is how I usually do my makeup on a day to day basis.

As you can see,
I have pretty full eyelashes for an Asian.
But they look really thin and not obvious at all,
especially when I draw my eyeliner.
They also droop downwards naturally.

Jeane (the eyelash extension specialist) first let me choose which style of eyelashes I wanted.
I went for Sexy because Jeane says the longer ends will elongate my eyes and thus give me a nicer eye shape.

PB130214
Next, I got to choose the curvature of the lashes and the length!
Jeane estimated that my own lashes were between 8-10mm.
So she suggested me to pick the 10-12mm extensions with medium curve.

The extensions can be customized to individual preferences and that's what I like about it.

And I couldn't wait to get started!!!

PB130187

PB130189
Jeane stuck pieces of tape under my eyes to make sure that the glue doesn't get in during the process of extension.
She was really gentle and meticulous and so I felt more than safe to leave my eyelashes in her hands.

And then...
I fell asleep.
I remembered drifting in and out of a pleasant slumber and then I woke up with a set of gorgeous eyelashes.

PB130205

PB130207

Totally didn't feel anything during the entire process!
No uncomfortable stinging sensations that some of my friends had reported.
Tried opening my eyes and didn't feel anything poking into my eyes either.

The extensions felt and look like my real lashes.
I had a total of 60 extensions on per side of my eye.

There's no down time at all after doing the extensions.
I went straight for brunch with the sisters after that!
:)

Disappointing visit to Symmetry because I had high expectations of it since my first visit there for my birthday brunch.

They didn't have mains when we were there (around 3-ish in the afternoon) and they ran out of skinny fries for the truffle fries.
:(

Well, at least we had some good desserts to end our outing!
Can always count on Canele to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Outfit of the day:
Carla Blooms Romper in Black upcoming on TTR,
white loafers from Left Foot

Another romper which made it to my list favourite rompers!
Loving the colour combination of the dainty florals on black base,
and the ultra flattering cutting just makes it all the more awesome.
Keeping both the black and navy for myself definitely!

And here's my verdict of the eyelash extensions by Covo after having it on me for the past few days...
I would definitely love to do this again because of how much time it saves me on my makeup routine every day!

I know I've said that I don't put on mascara normally,
but these extensions also can save me the trouble of drawing my eyeliner (surprise surprise!) because they make my eyes look so made up already.
I went out without eyeliner a couple of days back and Jolene said I still looked like I had eyeliner on.
Hehe.

For girls who focus a lot on eyelashes usually,
all the more you should go for extensions at Covo!

They have a qualified specialist to perform the extensions for you and their materials are all specially imported from Japan.
Quality and safety is definitely assured.

Outfit of the day:
Issey Pleated Spag Top in Purple Florals upcoming on TTR,
denim shorts from Miss Selfridge

So excited to be launching this top tomorrow!
:)))
Kept 3 out of 5 colours because I love the pleated details at the neckline to death.
Makes a really good basic piece too!

Wore the white one out today,
will post the photos soon!

Loving life.

Life's been really good to me lately,
I've been feeling contentment in my daily life and nothing beats the feeling of serenity.
I realise that sometimes being busy isn't all that bad,
BUSY > BORING anytime for me.
At least for me,
I'm doing what I love as compared to being stuck in a dreary, daily grind of routine office work.

With proper time management,
(and the hiring of one more TTR minion)
me and Sissy are starting to find some free time on our hands to spend with friends and family.
And also doing random things like baking,
which is our common hobby!
More about baking on another entry,
but I'm gonna blog about my rather happening pre-weekend which just passed.

Met one of my favourite group of girls for dinner at Mandarin Gallery last Thursday!
:)

Wore the Coloured Poppies Romper in cream!
;)
Psst, launching this tomorrow!

We were supposed to go to Wild Honey,
but their lack of service and apathetic attitude towards customers turned us off.
Other options like Ippudo and Antoinette were too crowded,
so we found ourselves at Ma Maison Tonkatsu!

Didn't know what to order since it was everyone's first time there...
So I settled for this which has a combination of fried prawn, pork loin and pork fillet!
Turns out I prefer the pork loin most out of all.
Hehe.

Weird grated white radish which I didn't try at all.
LOL.

My set which looks sinfully yummy!
LOVEEEEE the tartar mayo sauce which comes with it!!!
Finished the entire small saucer of it.
Hahaha.
Fat X 2!

Had a choice between normal white rice and multigrain rice,
and I went for the healthier option hehehe.

The miso soup which came with the set is really good too!
Everyone had second rounds of it! :)
Oh yes, the rice and miso soup is refillable so it's good if you're REALLY hungry.
Hahaha.
For $25.80 I would say this is really value for money!
:)))

Going back again for sure!

Nancy's Katsudon which I stole a few bites of,
super niceeeeee also omgggg.

And a mandatory group photo, courtesy of Yina!
:)

It was great catching up with everyone especially since it was a long time from the last time we met..
It's not easy trying to coordinate everyone's schedule and it can be really frustrating at times.
So, thank you thank you Wendy for organising always!

And times like this I miss my good friend Steph even more than usual!
:'(
Come back soon!
Miss you too much!

The plan on Friday was to head out to do manicures!
It was one of those days which I simply couldn't decide on anything to wear.
Everything I tried on just seems...
URGHHHH.

A wardrobe bursting with clothes but nothing to wear.
;(

Speaking of which,
I need to embark on project 'save Joyce's wardrobe'!
Either will be posting a selling video or photos on my blog soon!

When in doubt, always go for the fishtail skirt.
Hahahaha.
Paired with one of my favourite tops!
This was the original piece which inspired the Lovely as Primrose Top, if you remember!
;)

Got our favourite milk tea from the basement shop at FEP!
:)))
I'm such a milk tea addict.
I have to have milk tea at least once everyday.
No matter in what form,
teh peng, pokka milk tea, lipton instant milk tea, koi milk tea, random bubble tea shop milk tea.
You get the drift!

LOOK. AT. MY. HORRIBLE. NAILS.
I am so terribly lazy when it comes to nails.
Hahaha.
I will usually them to peel off by themselves every time I apply.
So unhealthy for the nails, I know!

As usual, scouting around for shops to do our nails at!
There're so many shops on level 5 and it was a tough decision to pick...
Didn't want to go back to the shop which I did my previous gellish at because I felt it was too expensive.
And the manicurist didn't really do a very good job for the amount I paid.

This time, I remembered to take a photo of the shop I went to!
The last time I didn't and quite a few people asked me.
Hahah.

And I'm loving the service I got at Autumn Nail Spa so I'm strongly recommending it to you!
:)
Not an advertorial or anything or the sort.

The toughest part of doing a manicure:
Deciding on the colours and design.

For gellish, one colour is $20 (if I recall correctly).
I wanted to do designs so it was $55 ($35 for artwork).

Spot my photobombing face.
Hahahaha.

Meet my manicure buddies!
:D :D :D

AND DENG1 DENG1 DENG1 DENG4!
After an hour and a half or so...
Here's the finished product!

LOVING IT!
I think my manicurist is very talented omg.
She paid attention to the details and did not paint the flowers too uniformly,
and all I showed her was one blurry photo.
For like 5 seconds.

Sissy and Erica both did express manicures for $5 only!
:)))

And the lil sis came to join us after her project meeting!
:D

Me and zee little one!
:)

All hide behind me.
有心机!

Happening Friday was happening because after dropping Erica and Jess home,
we headed to Spize to meet the TTR peeps!

Le perfect couple #1.
Hahahahaha.

Le perfect couple #2!

Le not-so-perfect gay buddies.
LOL.
Seriously mind-boggling about how they can get into deep discussion about olden days kung fu movies and what-not.
Hahaha.

Jon with his roti john.
Hahaha.
It was actually a farewell supper for Jon before he leaves Singapore...
But I think we'll be seeing him again soon!
:)

We look so tired and sticky and messy but still,
LOVE ALL!
<3

Oh and our dearest Dings did a TTR vlog from our photoshoot last week!
Hehehe I think some of you watched it already though!
If you have not, here it is (in 2 parts):

Part 1

Part 2

Love Suan's part, mega sweet lor....
HEHE.
All done in the name of good fun so don't judge!
I look x10 awkward and don't sound like myself at all. Hahaha.
So not a vlog person!

Be good, everyone!
Will blog again really soon!
:)
