I've finally had time this week (my schedule is super packed omg) to redo a new set of nails at Milly's!

I had so many things to deal with this week and so I didn't have time to research on any nail art that I want to do...

So I thought I would request for something simple but nice,

like florals on a pastel base or something.

Until I saw the nail art on my manicurist's nails.

I WAS LIKE OMG I WANT TO DO THIS PLEASE!

Now would be a good time to squeal and then die of cuteness overload.
Hahaha.
Honestly...
Everywhere I went today had girls telling me how cute my nails were.
And then they proceed to ask other girls around them to take a look.
I was surrounded by girls everywhere I went, hahah.
Maybe guys should consider doing this.
LOL.
I kid.


Be very, very jealous.

I had such a good time doing my nails with her because it was so nice to chat with her.
2 hours passed by in a blink.

She's the best person to do this set of nails because she's the one who designed it from scratch!
GENIUS RIGHT?
She looked into every single nitty gritty detail to make sure that my nails turned out perfect.
And I just kept telling her how awesome she (and the nail design) is.

If you can see,
the cat on my last finger has colourful polka dots all over!
And some of the colours are specially mixed to get the specific shade that the design requires.
How to not love Chloe you tell me??!

Summer Fun

Outfit of the day:

Knew I had to keep this top the moment I saw it.
So cute and it just screams BRINGMETOTHEBEACH!
Even though I'm not loving the idea of being at any beach right now given that I'm avoiding UV rays as much as I can.
Hahaha
Looking at this top reminds me of going on holidays.
And it has palm tree leaves all over!!

I love off shoulder tops so you'll probably see them appear on TTR from time to time.
I'm glad that there's Jolene to keep me from submitting too many similar designs at one go.
HAHAHA.
Else there would probably be 10 off shoulder designs for one month and 10 some-other-designs-I'm-crazy-about for another month.


Anyway, I know I have been promising you nail art tutorials.
And yay, finally here's one!
Doing your own nails sound intimidating but I promise it is more fun than scary.
I used to have really shaky hands but they got better after lots of practice.


Here's the watermelon nail art which I did for Sissy last week!
If you're wondering how on earth you're going to paint on your own dominant hand (which means you gotta use your non dominant hand to do it)...
I used to wonder the same too.
Just one word.
PRACTICE.

I think looking at the pictures will be easy enough,
anyone should be able to follow and replicate the same design!
And you don't need to have any special tools to do this design as well!


Poshe basecoat and super fast drying top coat

Firstly, get your base coat and top coat ready!

I used to ignorantly think that there was no need for them.
Until I went to read up and realise that both of them are essential because the basecoat helps to protect your nails and prevent staining (some of them even come with properties to nourish the nail!) and the top coat helps to seal in your nicely drawn nail design while giving it a nice shine!
AND, most importantly, you need to get a super fast drying top coat like the one I have!
You know how you ALWAYS ruin your nails with 5 minutes of painting them?
Because you either don't use a top coat,
or your top coat is lousy.

A good topcoat should dry the surface of your manicure within 5 to 10 minutes,
and completely dry your manicure and make it rock solid within 20-30 minutes.

And that is the reason why I LOVE LOVE LOVE super fast drying top coats.
So far, Poshe and Seche Vite are my favourites!
Seche Vite is the holy grail top coat for many nail enthusiasts when I read about it online,
but it contains a harmful chemical known as toluene.
It causes reproductive harm and birth defects so those who are planning to conceive or are already pregnant shouldn't use it.

Ok I'm sure you're not here to hear me talk about chemicals so let's move on!
Just thought I should make things clear in case some of you don't do your research.


OPI A Definite Moust Have, Jade is the New Black, Alpine Snow, Black Onyx


Paint the base with Poshe basecoat, wait for about 5 minutes before painting the first coat of A Definite Moust Have.
Would recommend you to wait for another 10-15 minutes before painting your second coat to avoid dragging on the first layer (if it has not dried).
Otherwise, it would result in unsightly bald patches.

I love the tiny shimmery particles in A Definite Moust Have.
It goes on smoothly and is of a really good consistency.
2 coats will cover fully and is totally opaque.


A 20 minutes wait before applying the white portion would be good.
Otherwise, you run the risk of having colour run.
The pink will go onto the white portion if you don't wait long enough.
(Trust me, I experienced it before!)
There's lots of waiting in between so it will be good if you do it while catching up on your favourite drama series!

The white portion should resemble the tips of a french manicure,
but slightly thicker.
It should take up about 1/4 of your nail bed.


While waiting for your white portion to dry,
paint the black dots!

I put a small amount of black polish on aluminium foil and used a small dotting tool (if you don't have it, use the end of a bobby pin, it works the same!) to dip into the black polish.
You're advised to try it out on white paper before doing it on your nails.
Hahaha.

Anyway, you have to do the dotting rather quickly.
Otherwise the polish turns gunky and your dots will look like a huge mess with streaks all over.

Try to make your dots look like tear drops because that's what watermelon seeds look like.
Be sure to space them out nicely too!


15-20 minutes after you have painted the white portion,
you can paint the green portion which is the watermelon skin.
It should take up roughly 2/3 of the white portion.
Same thing, if you don't wait long enough there might be colour run.

After your design is completed,
finish it with a layer of top coat!

Wait it out as long as you can (minimum 20 minutes!) before applying the top coat.
Else the whole design might be smudged if any colour isn't totally dry.

Like I said,
there's quite a lot of waiting to be done so you have to be patient.




And finally,
yummy watermelon nails for summer!
HEHEHE.

I love how they turn out.
And the best thing is,
it's alright if they aren't done perfectly.
No watermelon is perfect in real life.

Easter Bunnies.

I don't celebrate Easter but Easter nails are too cute to pass up!
My first attempt at drawing animals on my nails,
didn't really do a neat job especially for the chick.
I love the bunny more,
as you can probably tell from my photos.






Did a similar design on the little Sissy's nails,
only this time with white dots instead of black,
and a much cuter version of the chick!

CNY/VDAY/RANDOM

Sometimes, it feels like I'm playing catch up with my own life on this blog.

But it's so hard, hahaha. 

Just drafted out our plans for TTR this year and just looking at it makes me motivated.

Guess I'll be sacrificing quite some personal time once things get into full swing,

but I'm looking forward! 

Here're some little squares of my cny, vday and random things as you can see from my blog title.

The iphone has been so convenient that sometimes I'm lazy to even bring out my bulky EP3.

Not all photos are posted on my Instagram,

so even if you're following me on ig already, you can still feel free to scroll through my blog post.

HAHAH.

 There's the TTR steamboat reunion dinner at my place, the usual CNY visiting, a very casual Vday dinner with Thom at TCC, random photos of nails with all kinds of colours, the SEA aquarium outing with the sisters and boyfriends, some outfit photos, and some random photos which cannot go into any category at all.

CNY is still my favourite even though it feels a bit different now that I'm grown up.
Ang baos are less enticing than before because now I give out more than I receive.
Hahah.
Woes of a working adult.
MEH.

So for those who are still receiving without having to give,
enjoy it while it lasts!!

But still, to me it's more about having the entire family get together each and every year.
