Browhaus + Strip Westgate

Lucky me got invited to the opening of another new Browhaus + Strip outlet at the new Westgate mall!
If you didn’t know, it’s next to JEM & Jurong East MRT Station!
 How convenient!

This is their first foray into the west side of Singapore,
you're a lucky girl too if you happen to be a westie because you can now enjoy their signature treatments without having to travel to town to get your brow fix.
Read on because I have exclusive promotions for my readers for this spanking new outlet of theirs!

So far I've only tried their brow resurrection (sponsored) and really love it!
Digressing a little,
I recently went for my touch up and I'm even more pleased with how my brows look now.
/wiggles eyebrows

And so,
I knew I was definitely in for a treat when Jeane invited me for a closed door event and I would be able to try out a few of their treatments during the party.

My babygirl was at the opening too!
:)))

Loving the luxurious looking wooden panels and glass doors of their pretty new store!
I also really like their witty, tongue-in-cheek slogans.
You can check out the interior of their store for more!
;)

PC134061
We felt really at home in the store and took our own sweet time eating the desserts and discussing which treatments we should go for.
Such typical girls.
Haha.

PC134066
Here’s a cheeky door signage in the room.
Bye Bye Bush.

Strip Westgate
And here's a picture of a STRIP room!

Strip is definitely known as the Ministry of Waxing for good reasons.
I tried their lower arm waxing first and my Waxpert, Crystal was really adept at it.
My treatment was over in a flash.
No discomfort at all and I didn't feel any pain I swear!

Strip also believes in ultimate safety and hygiene for their waxing practices.
They were the first salon to introduce the "No Double Dipping" commandment and each customer will receive an individually sealed pouch containing disposable waxing equipment.
I felt really assured to know that,
because no one wants to get waxed at dodgy, unhygienic places, do they?

Couldn't help touching my arms after the treatment because they felt so silky smooth.
You really need to try it at least once if you have not, really.
No kidding.

Next, I tried out the Browhaus Thread and Tweeze.

I've gone for threading before and I've done tweezing on my own,
but I have not gone for any which combines the 2.
So what’s the difference between these 2 techniques?
Threading removes stray and very fine hair strands,
while Tweezing gives our brows a more defined look.

My brows were done in less than 15 minutes because I already had the basic shape for them to work with due to the brow resurrection I did a couple of months back.
:)
It looks slightly faded in the photo above because the lighting was too strong.
But I love the shape and how defined my brows are after the Thread and Tweeze treatment.
Immediately whatsapped Sissy and told she that she has to go get her brows done at Browhaus too,
because her brows are super messy!

Moving on to the next pampering session for the day...
IPL underarm treatment!

I tried Strip's IPL treatment only ONCE and was immediately hooked.
Comparing this to the underarm IPL treatment package which I signed up for elsewhere,
I must say Strip wins.
Hands down.

Unlike the other places which require me to go for numerous, countless times just to remove most hair...
Strip can do it in just 6 sessions for the underarm!

Sometimes I think it can be hard to commit to packages because of conflicting schedules etc.
But 6 sessions,
I can see myself committing to with no problems at all!

After a mere session,
the hair growth on my underarm area is significantly slower in the 2 weeks that follow.
I also really like this treatment because there was no pain due to the lower energy output in their machines.
You know those "snapping" sensations which you feel during IPL at some places?
I'm pretty afraid of that but to my surprise, I did not feel any at all.

They use a special technology called Gradual Heating System.
Instead of using intense shots of energy to destroy hair follicles,
their machine delivers small energy doses that are accumulated to reach the effective level.

How genius can Strip be right?!
No pain but more results!

PC134098
After my treatment,
I was given this cute after-care card!

And here's the special promotion for you ladies!

Quote 'Joyce' to redeem 50% off your first wax/brow treatment at Strip & Browhaus Westgate.

Applicable for first-time customers at Westgate outlet only.
Limited to one redemption per customer.
Valid till 28 February 2014.
Other terms & conditions apply.

Browhaus and Strip are also offering special starter packages for my readers!

Strip: Purchase Strip waxing credit package at $150 and get $50 credits for free!
 Browhaus: Spend $140 for 10 + 3 brow threading services (U.P. $170)

Thank you for the generosity and the kind invite,
Strip + Browhaus!
And also lots of love to Jeane and Eugenia for hosting us that day!

I AM SPYGAL

I was invited to a Benefit event held at Tangs earlier this month.
And it was a really enjoyable event because I got to meet a few of my readers, do a makeover for someone, and learn new makeup tips from the pros!
;)

Okay I'll admit it,
I'm a huge fan of Benefit even before I attended this event.
Hahaha.
So I was pretty thrilled when Mei Ting contacted me for this event!

The invited bloggers were supposed to be Benefit Spygals and we had to carry out 'missions',
which was to do makeovers for the selected fans!

Hello Flawless foundation,
I love you so much!
My savior and holy grail when it comes to liquid foundation.

SAM_3713
Cupcakes and drinks for everyone at the event!

The Benefit team also got the bloggers cute trench coats so that we look just like the Porefessional spygals!
We just needed a hat, black gloves and black boots to complete the look.
Hahaha.

And of course, cute outfits call for a series of photo-taking!

SAM_3716

SAM_3721
Yina was also at the event!
Always happy to see familiar faces at events.
:)

Our cute spygals ootd!

SAM_3726
Posing with a life-sized tube of Porefessional!

SAM_3732

SAM_3735
And then everyone went outside before the event started to catch the flash mob!
It attracted quite a lot of passerbys too!

SAM_3737
Me and Sissy with the respective fans that we had to do makeovers for!
To be honest, we were both quite nervous and jittery about having to put on makeup for someone...
Hahaha.
The only other person that I have put on makeup for (other than myself) is Jolene.
And we are not even experts at doing our own makeup!
So we expected ourselves to be completely inexperienced and rather clumsy at it.

But thankfully, we were already familiar with some of the Benefit products since we use them on a daily basis.
And there were makeup artists going around to assist us during the makeovers!

SAM_3749
Pretty and dolly-looking Vivien after the makeover!!
HEHEHE.
I think I did a pretty decent job!
:)

It also helped that Vivien totally trusted me to do whatever I deemed fit.
And she was super nice and assuring!
Thank you Vivien!

Was quite surprised (but definitely touched) that some of the Benefit fans actually read our blogs and know who we are too!
:)

I don't even think my blog is that interesting sometimes,
but thank you all for reading!
Hehe.

With pretty Andrea who was also an invited blogger at the event!

SAM_3775
Guess who managed to bring these home???
HEHEH.
Thank you to the super generous Benefit team!
Now I can have new additions to my Benefit makeup collection.

Confession time:
I'm a super huge sucker for nice packaging (I'm sure most girls are!),
and I think Benefit does their packaging really well!
Love their tongue-in-cheek and catchy product names as well.

For the month of August,
the Benefit team would like to offer my readers a complimentary brow waxing voucher with any purchase of Benefit products from the following Benefit counters:

 - Robinsons @ Raffles City
 - Sephora Ngee Ann City

 1) Complimentary brow vouchers are redeemable with any purchase of Benefit product (no minimum purchase)
 2) You girls need to quote my name to the Benefit Beauty Advisors on duty, i.e., “SpyGal Joyce" to redeem the voucher
 3) Appointment booking for the complimentary brow service is necessary, and only valid at Robinsons Raffles City or Sephora Ngee Ann City
 4) Voucher redemption is valid from 1 August 2013 onwards at selected counters only
 5) While stocks last only

Took some pictures for a FOTD post (will do short reviews on the product I used too!),
but wait for my next post okay??
I'm rushing out for my facial appointment now and I cannot be late!

BYE FOR NOW!

MY TRY AT BENTO MAKING.

The haze today has been so, so bad.
Every single time I log in to the Twitter app,
there will surely be tweets about how bad the haze is.
Singapore looks like Genting now, minus the awesome weather.
Plus, there's a very choking and tear inducing smoky smell which annoys the hell out of me.

Tried my very best today to stay indoors with air conditioning on full blast.

I'm leaving Singapore for work tomorrow so I thought I'll keep my blog updated!
Be back in a couple of days,
don't miss me too much!

Okay back to the title of my blog post...
I was invited to a Lee Kum Kee event earlier last week,
and I brought (who else but) the Sissy along since she's quite into bento making.
Or at least I think she tried making bentos a couple of times for Ben before.
Hahaha.
I myself had been to several baking classes last time and I love cooking/baking,
so I was really excited for this event!

It turned out super fun!

The purpose of the event was to introduce 3 of their new products and incorporate them into the bento making session.
I think it's a really innovative way to introduce their new products!
:)

Pictures time!

Done by us!
Impressive?
HEHEHE.

I'm just kidding.

We're noob level 101.

Those bentos were done by the bento master,
Ms Shirley Wong!
After seeing the display sets,
we were all hyped up and ready to go!

SAM_4966
The yummy condiments we got to try out that day!
They are not available in NTUCs yet.
But I think you can find them in Giant/Cold Storage already!

SAM_4967 SAM_4968

SAM_4969
Our cooking station!

Okay, I admit, I'm not the most organised person when it comes to cooking...
Don't judge when you see the station gets progressively messier later!!!

SAM_4973

SAM_4974
Pretty Alene sharing our cooking station!
:)

SAM_4975
AND LET IT BEGIN!
I don't know why but it was so hard to catch up during the session.
Or maybe I'm slow and not housewife material.
:(

SAM_4977

SAM_4976
YUCK.
CARROTS.

SAM_4978
Loving our Lee Kum Kee aprons!
Hehehe.
We look so pro in the aprons right.
Like we're ready to cook some Michelin worthy dishes.
HAHAHA.

SAM_4979
An array of Lee Kum Kee sauces!
Actually I'm very familiar with this brand even before I attended the event,
which is also one of the reasons I was looking forward to the event.
My mum uses many of their condiments when she cooks at home.

I tasted a bit of the tomato sauce and it was really rich in tomato flavour!
The colour also appeared to be redder than tomato sauces on the mass market because they use only red and ripe tomatos.
I also love that there are no preservatives/colouring added.

SAM_4982
Amanda came to help out with the grill for a while!

SAM_4983

SAM_4986
AND THIS IS ME.
I was like...
'SHIT HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO FLIP THEM??? IS IT COOKED ALREADY?'
Damn noob please.
Obviously I haven't been in the kitchen much.

SAM_4988
And before I realised it,
all chao ta already!!!
:(

It's a good thing that Thom is a MUCH better cook than I am.
I'm also deathly afraid of spurting oil bits.
Scaredy cat is me.

Cute hippo scissor!
Speaking of scissors,
I just gave myself a super deep cut on my middle finger today with a pair.
:'(
Wasn't really thinking and I cut myself before I knew it.
Thought it wasn't serious but blood starting spewing out.
HAHA okay maybe not spew...
Flow.

Now I'm having difficulties typing on the keyboard.
Feel so handicapped.
Meh.

SAM_3004 SAM_3005
Sissy hard at work!

SAM_3009
Mine, Alene's, Sissy's.

SAM_3006
Snapped a photo of this and proudly sent it to Thom.
He was actually quite impressed, hahaha.
Then he asked me when am I making it for him.
LOL.

I feel so thankful for the Lee Kum Kee sauces because they made the food taste good even though I am a bad cook.
Hehehe.
We each brought home a bottle of the new sauces and my mum was so happy!

SAM_3011
Us posing proudly with our cute bentos!!!
:D :D

SAM_3014
New found friends from the event,
Alene and Amanda!
:)

Thank you to the awesome people from Lee Kum Kee and Brand Cellar for having us at this event!
We really enjoyed ourselves a lot and it was really fun learning how to make bentos!

I want to try making the Hello Kitty bento someday!
HEHE.

Hokays, my blog post made me quite hungry so I'm off to dig around the house for some food!
