Cafes Compiled Part II

It might not be such a good idea for me to be blogging about cafes during my Eat Clean Week...
But a promise is a promise and I am already a day late in doing so.
So...
Here goes!

This is my second visit to Baker & Cook,
but first visit to their Holland Village outlet.

We were admittedly headed to Holland Village for Sunday Folks.
But unfortunately,
we were not aware that Sunday Folks only open from 4pm onwards on weekdays.

So we settled at Baker & Cook instead,
along the same row of shops as Sunday Folks!

The eggs benedict was a miss for us though.
The toast was so hard that we had to chew and tug at it with all our might before we could even detach a bite.
The quiche was average but not memorable.

Twice the disappointment for us because we thought we would be eating soft serve with ice cream that day.
Hahah.

It's been so long since my visit that I've already forgotten the name of this cafe.
Either that or my memory is failing me at the age of 25.
Hahah.

Hooray for Instagram!

This cafe is called Quarter to Three.
Chanced upon it when I met my friends for dinner at Chicken Up and suggested it for brunch with Jazreel.

Loved the meatballs dish I ordered!
The meatballs are handmade (if I am not wrong) and so, so tender.
Wins Ikea meatballs hands down.

Rainbow cake was not impressive though,
tasted like your run-of-the-mill vanilla cake.
Still prefer NOM's any time!

Anthesis is one of my favorite cafes out of all that I have visited.
But sadly,
they closed down a couple of months back.
:(

I don't think I will be blogging about the food much since you would not be able to visit this cafe anymore.
Enjoy the photos!

Visited Bloomsbury Bakers because I saw the speculoos apple crumble tart from IG and it looked SO GOOD.

But I guess luck was not on our side when we visited,
because we got a deconstructed tart in a plastic cup instead of a full tart.
Although it should have tasted the same technically speaking...
But a whole tart would have looked a whole lot nicer!

The lemon meringue tart and strawberry shortcake were not really worthy of mention.

The food selection at The Tastemaker Store was really limited.
I think Yoko ordered some curry chicken rice (?) while I ordered a peanut butter cake with an iced matcha latte.
Don't think I will be returning to this cafe again,
but I think the decor looks really nice and rustic.

Our first successful visit to Sunday Folks!
And it definitely did not disappoint.

We went on a late Friday afternoon and...
THE QUEUE WAS SO FREAKING LONG.

After getting ourselves a queue number,
we had to wait for about 20 minutes before we got our seat.

Another 20 minutes went by before we were served our waffles.
We ordered 2 of the regular waffles (2 slices of waffles) with pistachio soft serve and gula melaka soft serve.
Loved both!!

While I would hesitate about queuing for such a long time again,
these soft serve waffles were definitely worth the hype and rave reviews.

Waffles with ice cream only look good before you start eating,
though.
Hahah.

Made our second visit last week because we were craving for it.
This time round,
we ordered pistachio with their premium sea salt chocolate honeycomb toppings.
SO GOOD.

Guess it will be my regular haunt for ice cream and waffles from now on!

If only the queue can be shorter.
Or maybe they can consider opening another outlet?
Hehe.

Tian Kee & Co is also a cafe which I see myself frequenting every now and then.
Main reason is because it is near to my work place!
Secondly,
they are going to close down in a year or two due to redevelopment of the Dakota Crescent area.

So,
better visit while you still can!

On my second visit,
I tried the eggs benedict (not a fan of their cheese sauce, I prefer the traditional hollandaise!) and their rainbow tofu cheesecake.

The cheesecake was pretty good!
Loved the texture.
And of cos,
the pastel colours make it extremely IG worthy.

I loveeeee Grub.
And especially so because it is really near where I stay.
Plus,
the food hardly ever disappoints.
I think this is my 4th time there already.

Brought my mum there for her birthday lunch recently.

Ordered the sakura ebi pasta for the first time and I think it just made it to my list of must-orders at Grub.
Mentaiko fries goes without saying,
of course.

DAMN.
So hungry just looking at the photos.
Eating clean is so tough.

Okay,
that's all for part II.
Will do up another post once I accumulated more cafes to blog about.
Doubt I will be visiting any this week because am trying to eat clean.

Till then!

Baker & Cook

Love quiet afternoons spent with Sissy exploring new brunch places.
Although most of the time, we tend to miss brunch timings because we hit the snooze button once too often.
Hahaha.
All day brunch places to recommend, anyone?

Had brunch at Baker & Cook a couple of weeks back and I didn't realise that I have not blogged about it.
Too many things to blog about and it slipped my mind!

Self shots in the car, hehe.
I realise that the lighting in the car is always awesome.
And I've been pretty obsessed into lipsticks lately.
Bought a whole lot of them!
This is what happens when a new obsession hits me.
Hahaha maybe I should blog about my haul?

I love the shade which I'm wearing in this picture,
makes me look at least 2 shades fairer than I really am!
Red lipsticks also make your teeth look whiter!

We were ogling at their pastry selection for the longest time,
but we ended up deciding to order main courses first and the pastries if we still have room for them later on.
We didn't have room for them, of course.
So we took away some for the office!

My very well done eggs benny!
Came with smoked salmon as well,
bonus points!
The only thing I wish could be changed though,
were that they came with muffins instead of the rock hard toasts.

SAM_3951
Sissy's pancakes which she didn't take to very well because it came with greek yoghurt instead of the usual whipped cream or ice cream.
The pancakes were pretty fluffy though!

beats having to look good all the time.

Outfit of the day:
Upcoming tux collar romper on TTR,
bag from Alexander Wang,
flats from Zara.

Quite proud of this romper because I drew the design from scratch.
Heh.
We also did this in prints but I'm not revealing which print we picked yet.
But it's totally adorable!
The tuxedo collar design is really cute too, isn't it?

We went wild with rompers last month so you need to be prepared to see a lot of them coming up soon on TTR.
You have been warned.
Bwahaha.
I don't find it a problem at all because I love rompers.
They are perfect for those 'omg I have so many clothes but I don't know what to wear??!!' days.

Anyway, I went for my braces appointment last Friday.
And my orthodontist told me that I can take them off in 5-6 months' time!
Happy like mad.
She also told me to go for my appointments every 3 weeks so that the process can be even shorter.
Cross your fingers for me please!

SAM_8112

The TTR girls also self-organised a Korean BBQ night last Friday.
I don't get the whole Kpop thing but I quite like Korean food myself.

Outfit of the day:
Upcoming 2 tiered keyhole top on TTR,
Daisy Dukes Lace Shorts from TTR,
bag from Bricks and Bolsas,
flats from Zara.

Posted this outfit on my Instagram and got quite a few of you asking when we would be launching this.
Didn't plan to launch it so soon but since you asked...
I'll try my best to schedule it in as soon as I can!
:)

Picked this as my BBQ buffet outfit because I foresee that I will be eating quite a lot.
(Duh right, BUFFET.)
And I have learnt my lesson from the previous feasts I had while wearing tight fitting outfits.
Hahaha.
This light and airy top was just perfect because I didn't want to wear a top that would make me too warm while we barbeque the food.

No photos of the girls because I know they don't feel comfortable having their faces appear on my blog.
Heh.

Anyway, I thought I would never say this...
BUT I WANNA GO BACK FOR THIS SOON!
We only paid around $28 per person after service charge and gst and I thought it was really value for money.
I hardly ever like the variety of offerings from BBQ buffets so I went with low expectations.
But it turned out that the seasoned chicken (both spicy and garlic honey) was really good!!!
So good that I didn't want to touch the pork and beef or anything else after I tried it.
Extremely tender, well seasoned and just super flavourful!
Kept all my stomach space for the chicken and their kimchi which was surprisingly decent as well.
I rarely eat chicken when it comes to steamboat/BBQ by the way.
That ought to give you an idea of how awesome it is!

I'm still craving for it right now as I type away.

Enough of tempting you,
go try it out yourselves!
Just be prepared to be all smelly after the BBQ.
Your clothes and your hair and everything else on you will reek of BBQ.

We went for Wolverine after dinner,
hopefully the people in the theatre didn't find us smelly
Anyway if they did,
too bad.
LOL.

The place is really huge but even so,
it got filled up really quickly.
Probably also because it was a Friday night!
Anyway, we were smart enough to make reservations so we didn't have to wait.

Would advice you to do the same because you will have a REALLY long wait if you don't.
It's a buffet so everyone will probably want to eat as much as they can.
#TypicalSingaporeans
Hahaha.

Can't wait to go back!!!

On a side note,
the $500 given by the government is finally in!
Hehehe.
Guess who's going shopping tomorrow?
