What does a watch mean to you?

To me, a watch means more than an instrument which tells me the time of the day.
Not merely an accessory which lends an edge or twist to an otherwise ordinary ensemble.
It tells me that time is limited and running, and that we should be spending every tick of the second hand as wisely as we can.
Time to me is not measured by seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years.
It is measured by moments.

I have only ever given watches to people who hold special meaning in my life.
When I gift a watch, it means that I am willing to give them my time no matter how scarce it might be, and that they will always remain important no matter how much time has passed.
I can definitely count with one hand the number of people who have received watches from me as a gift given how selective I am when it comes to the recipients.

Blogging has blessed me with bountiful opportunities to work with brands which I truly love,
and Swiss watch-maker Claude Bernard being one of them.

Their repertoire of classic timepieces will be going on sale at the Vivocity Atrium between 24-30 August 2015.
With the 20% sale for their entire collection of watches,
you would be hard pressed to not get a piece or two for loved ones and yourself.

Change

Sponsored Post

I like to make changes to my hairstyle every now and then.
It's amazing how a change in hairstyle can make you feel completely brand new and refreshed.

I'm not the kind of girl who is adamant about keeping my hair nice and long,
I prefer experimenting with different lengths/colours/styles from time to time to keep things interesting.
Since I've been keeping my tresses long for the past half year,
I decided to get them trimmed during my recent visit to COVO.

Also, managed a small victory by persuading Yoshi (my stylist) to let me have bleached highlights!

And I am really liking how this length turned out.
The last time I went this short was probably close to almost a year ago.
Could do with a shorter crop but I'll leave that to the next visit...
Which probably will not be too far away given that Yoshi also promised me that he'll be giving me larger and lighter chunks of highlights.

Also want to add on that a fresh new hairstyle also makes my #ootd life much easier.

Looking forward to the next time I step into COVO!

The Fight Against Blemishes

Sponsored Post

IMG_7820

Clear and unblemished skin has always been a dream of mine.

My skin has always been problematic since my JC days, with zits which popped up on a regular basis and leaving scars which refuse to go away for months on end. Sharing from my personal experience, having troubled skin can really affect one's confidence level to a great extent. I used to really hate looking into mirrors because of the numerous angry red bumps which did not subside no matter what I did back then.

The bad skin condition back then was probably due to a combination of lifestyle habits and genetics. Some skincare and makeup products I used also contributed to it because my skin was so sensitive and every little thing can trigger breakouts.

I'm happy to say that it has since improved after many visits (which meant that I spent a bomb!) to the dermatologists.

However, even until now, my skin has yet to achieve that blemish-free state which I'm still working really hard towards.

Recently went to the dermatologist and got myself started on Roaccutane, which is meant to reduce the body's natural oil production - one of the main reasons why my skin gets breakouts.

At the same time, I was also actively on the lookout for skincare products with a track record of being able to prevent breakouts effectively. More specifically, skincare products which are gentle in nature, and not prone to further aggravating the troubled condition of my skin.

I've heard of the Eucerin brand even before I was engaged for this campaign to share about this DermoPURIFYER range. You would have probably noticed this brand as well, when you were making your rounds at Watsons and Guardian.

Eucerin is one of the leading dermocosmetic brands in America and Europe that develops products for different skin needs.

Their products under the DermoPURIFYER range mainly focus on combating acne issues. Acne usually stems from several root causes such as excess sebum, formation of comedones, abnormal growth o bacteria and inflammation. Eucerin has successfully formulated their products to address those causes.

Like I said, my skin is slightly sensitive and hence I am always discerning when it comes to picking the right products for my skin. Used these products for a while before I decided to blog about them because I would only want to share if they work well for me.

They complement my existing skincare regime well and also independently.
On days when I'm too tired to pile on 358236214749 skincare products before bed,
this simple 4-step regime is the bare minimal I abide by.

DermoPURIFYER Make-up And Acne Remover

Removing the makeup after a long day is a MUST for me.
I can never rest easy if I know that make-up is not cleansed off in entirety.
I like how this light cleansing fluid effectively removes all traces of gunk of the face and leaves a faint refreshing sensation after.

DermoPURIFYER Cleanser and Toner

My skin generally feels clean and supple after using the cleanser and toner - zero traces of make-up residue after these 2 steps!

DermoPURIFYER Active Concentrate

This is my favourite product from the range which I was sent. What I like best about it is that it is oil- and preservative-free, which serves acne prone skin well because you wouldn't want something which aggravates the skin.

It is lightweight and non sticky in texture, which gets absorbed into the skin in no time at all. This makes it ideal to be incorporated into my already fussy regime.

After application of a week or so, I noticed that the blemishes on my skin were clearing up slightly faster and there was less build-up of sebum throughout the day.

Although I wouldn't say that this product can entirely solve the issue of acne,
but it can certainly act as a preventive measure against breakouts with prolonged usage and a well thought out skincare regime which complements.

NDP FUNPACK

Sponsored Post

Unless you have been living inside a cave for the past few months,
I'm sure you would have heard or known about SG50.
To build up to the National Day Parade (themed "Majulah Singapura") this year,
many initiatives have been launched to engage Singaporeans across all generations, races and religions.

I was down at the National Gallery one sunny morning for the media launch of NDP2015 funpacks -
an essential at every National Day Parade!

To be honest,
I was really excited (who doesn't love the NDP funpacks??) even though I was bleary eyed from having to wake up early to reach the media launch on time.

My press release kit which comes with SG car decals and a uniquely Singapore ezlink card

In lieu of Singapore's 50th birthday this year,
the funpacks come in 50 different designs - each designed by Singaporeans from all walks of life.
Some of the more notable personalities include Vernetta Lopez and Dick Lee,
which many of you should be more than familiar with!

P6034858
Singa was at the event too!
And apparently very popular with the photographers as well.
See the swarm of people who rushed up once Singa appeared.
Hahaha.

After the media interviews,
we got to walk around and check out the 50 different designs,
each one a different kind of amazing and uniquely Singapore.

Here are some which caught my attention!

If you're wondering if you have to ballot for the parade tickets just so that you can snag one of these adorable funpacks for yourself...

NO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO.

The good news is that each and every household will receive the funpacks this year!
You will be getting instructions on the collection of the funpack via mail so do look out for that.
Designs are probably going to be given out at random but you can make it more fun by getting your friends to swap with you!
Hahaha.

My Right Miracle

Sponsored Post

If you can recall,
I did a "What's In My Bag" blogpost just a while ago...
If you don't,

I shared about this skincare product which I have been using called the Bio-essence Miracle Bio Water.

I didn't just chance upon the product in the stores and decided to give it a try.
It is one product which is always available at my house because Jolene uses it.
She buys and replenishes whenever it runs out.

I asked Jolene how she started using this product and it was because Ben (her boyfriend) used to have acne prone skin and he feels that this product is good at reducing inflammation and makes his skin less sensitive.

Since we are sisters and we share most of our things by default,
I took one bottle for myself and have been using it ever since I heard about how this product benefitted Ben.
Nothing beats a real life testimonial!

If you ask me,
my only grouse was that the old Miracle Bio Water acted more like a spray than a mist.
Because the water droplets are so big!

If I have makeup on and I use the spray,
I wouldn't be able to pat it dry and thus had to wait for some time before it gets absorbed.

Recently,
I was invited for the launch of the new and improved version of the Miracle Bio Water.
And I'm sooooo happy (totally not exaggerating okay) to hear the new improvements being made for this product which I already love and have been using.

Event was held at Bliss House - super pretty place with lots of natural light!

The thoughtful Bio-essence team had our names printed out on cards to welcome us to our seats.

P5082054 copy

I was really excited to hear that the new Miracle Bio Water now comes with a finer mist (yay no more big water droplets and patting needed for the drops to get absorbed!) and a whole new look.
I also learnt that amongst other similar products on the market,
the Miracle Bio Water has the lowest salt content, in turn giving you maximum hydration.

Doesn't that sound good already?

We were given some craft materials to personalise our bottle of Miracle Bio Water at the event.

I love that this product comes in 2 sizes.
The 100ml is perfect for carrying on-the-go without taking too much space in my bag, and for travelling of course!

The humidity is getting really unbearable these days and I find myself reaching for the Miracle Bio Water whenever I get out of the sun.
It works wonderfully to soothe the skin and lower the skin's temperature,
I'm telling you!
The best feeling after all that heat and awful humidity.

P5122280 copy
The 300ml is always on my work table.
It is always a good idea to keep your skin moisturised in air-conditioned places.
And I also like to spray it whenever I feel sleepy.
Hahaha.
Works okay!

P5132296 copy
I also bring the 100ml with me to the gym to use post-workout.
You can basically use this product ANYWHERE and ANYTIME.

I'm starting to feel insecure if I leave the house without it.
I need to set a reminder to bring it along with me on my work trip!

If you're interested in giving this product a try,
you can redeem your FREE 30 ML TRIAL SIZE via this link -
http://bit.ly/1llaDp7

It is currently available in Watsons, Guardian, Unity, NTUC Fairprice and departmental stores.
The promotion they are having right now sounds very tempting.
I need to buy and stock up!
Twin pack for 300ml is going for $29.90 instead of $28.90 for just 1 bottle.
